Side Door,Liverpool City Centre
Location - On Hope St, opposite Philharmonic Pub.
Ambience - Limited seating arrangements - Sat upstairs on a table for two.
4 tables downstairs - felt like run through to toilets.
(Note steep stairs - so would advise booking a table upstairs if any form of disability.)
Clientele mainly family groups and more mature couples.
Visited on a Sat night in June-13 on cusp of pre-theatre menu ending.
(Got very busy so would recommend don't book between 7 and 7-30pm.
It took them 32 mins to provide a cocktail and a bottle of peroni and came after starter served.)
No real apology (one of original ingredients missing) and no compensation offered.
Food nicely presented and my wife enjoyed both her fish dishes.
Lamb kofta starter very tasty but overpriced for size of portion by roughly £2-50.
Duck options were pink or cooked through, went for the latter but should have gone for 1/2 way house.
Portions adequate so no need for side dishes.
Wife asked for a dessert which was shown on board but "chef" decided not up to scratch.
This should have been pointed out at the start of the evening as was one of my wife's favourites.
Wine List - Reasonably varied and priced but bottle chosen felt heavy for a 13%.
No draught beer available.
Nice Irish coffee.
As it was busy on a Sat night no real chance for interaction with staff.
The Bill came to just under £100 with 3 courses,coffees,2 drinks and a bottle of wine.
I'd have expected to pay around £80 to £85.
Verdict - ok but not for that "special romantic" night
